Prior to 1989, there were no private law firms in the former Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (CSSR) and
advocacy was carried out through state law offices.
The historical roots of the law and patent office (today THK Legal s.r.o.) date back to 1979, since when the attorney, JUDr. Jarmila Traplová, specialized in the field of international intellectual property protection for both foreign and Czech clients at Law Office No. 10 in Prague. Her achievements and legacy are now successfully continued by her daughter, Mgr. Jana Traplová, attorney at law, owner of THK Legal s.r.o.
The "Velvet Revolution" in November 1989 brought political changes, the fall of communism, the disappearance of state law firms and the launch of private, independent law firms.
Jarmila Traplová, JUDr., founded in 1990 an independent law firm with the name JUDr. J. Traplová, Law Office, Patents, Trademarks, Industrial Designs, Licenses.
JUDr. Traplová began to write the history of a successful law and patent office, which took over the protection of intellectual property registered in the Czechoslovak Republic since 1930 and started cooperation with a number of major international companies.
In 1992, JUDr. Traplová began to cooperate with her previous employees - patent attorneys Ing. Jan Kubát and Ing. Eduard Hakr, within the association called JUDr. J. TRAPLOVÁ AND PARTNERS, ATTORNEY AND PATENT OFFICE.
In the second half of the 1990s, the TRAPLOVÁ HAKR KUBÁT Law and Patent Office began to be used for the association.
In September 2007, her daughter, Jana Traplová, began working as a law clerk for her mother, JUDr. Jarmila Traplová. Jana Traplová began to work mainly in the area of anti-counterfeiting - an important agenda that became crucially important 8 years after the "Velvet Revolution" in the Czech Republic.
In 2011 Mgr. Jana Traplová successfully passed the bar exam and became a cooperating attorney of JUDr. Jarmila Traplová.
JUDr. Jarmila Traplová passed away in December 2012.
Mgr. Jana Traplová continued her mother's previous practice as an independent lawyer and from 1 January 2013 she cooperated with Ing. Kubát and Ing. Hakr.
On 23 April 2021, Ing. Eduard Hakr and the association ceased to exist.
From 1 May 2021 to 31 December 2021, only Mgr. Jana Traplová, attorney at law and Ing. Jan Kubát, independent patent attorney hereinafter under the name TRAPLOVÁ HAKR KUBÁT Advokátní a patentová kancelář.

Ivana Beranova and used the name TRAPLOVÁ HAKR KUBÁT Advokátní a patentová kancelář for their business. This company was dissolved by the death of Ing. Kubát, who died on 3 December 2022, at the age of 89.
